Taking screenshots and screen recordings is a great way to save or share what’s happening on your screen—whether it’s a big win, a game moment, or a question you want help with. Don’t worry, it’s super easy!
Below are simple step-by-step guides for different devices:
How to screenshot your screen:
On Windows PC:
Alternative: Press Windows key + Shift + S to open the snipping tool, then click and drag to select the part of the screen you want to capture. It’s saved to your clipboard ready to paste.
On Mac:
To capture the entire screen: Press Shift + Command + 3.
To capture a selected area: Press Shift + Command + 4, then drag to select the area.
Your screenshot will be saved automatically on the desktop.
On iPhone/iPad:
On devices with a Home button: Press the Side (or Top) button + Home button at the same time.
On devices without a Home button: Press the Side button + Volume Up button simultaneously.
The screen will flash, and your screenshot will be saved to Photos.
On Android:
Press the Power + Volume Down buttons simultaneously for about 2 seconds.
The screen will flash, and the screenshot will appear in your Gallery.
How to record your screen:
On Windows 10/11:
Use the Xbox Game Bar: Press Windows key + G.
Click the Record button (a circle icon) in the Capture widget to start recording.
Press the stop button when you are finished. Your video will be saved in the Videos > Captures folder.
On Mac:
Press Shift + Command + 5 to open the screen recording toolbar.
Choose to record the entire screen or select a portion.
Click Record to start and use the menu bar to stop recording.
The video saves automatically on the desktop.
On iPhone/iPad:
Go to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls and add Screen Recording.
Swipe down from the top-right corner (or up from the bottom on older devices) to open Control Center.
Tap the Screen Recording button (a circle inside a circle).
To stop, tap the red status bar at the top and select Stop.
Your recording saves to Photos.
On Android:
Many Android devices have built-in screen recorders. Swipe down from the top to open the Quick Settings panel and look for Screen Record.
Tap it to start recording and use the controls to stop.
The recording is saved to your Gallery.
